Take a trip to the Catskill Mountains for the time of your life in the company of Johnny Castle and ‘Baby’ Houseman as Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story On Stage makes a triumphant return to the West End. Enjoying a brief Christmas run of performances at the Phoenix Theatre it will be a perfect opportunity to revisit an iconic story that has already wowed audiences in the West End and also entertained fans around the United Kingdom on tour.
With a love affair, raunchy dance moves and toe-tapping musical numbers, it doesn’t get any better than Dirty Dancing when it comes to your West End musical fix. It has it all and this is why it was such a big hit in 1987 when the original film was released and why, many years later, it won over audiences as a stage show at the Aldwych and Piccadilly Theatres.
The story takes us to the early 1960s when ‘Baby’ (Katie Hartland) is vacationing with her family in New York’s Catskill Mountains. It is there that she witnessed some eye-opening dance moves performed by dance instructor Johnny Castle (Lewis Griffiths) and soon he is showing her the moves as well. Meanwhile, a bond develops between them that will put her at odds with her family.
Along the way we hear musical numbers like (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life and She’s Like The Wind, amongst others, making this the ultimate night in the West End this Christmas!
